Moving on, getting over it, not dwelling on the past...Almost there

All of the Cubs playoff losses since 1984 have been difficult for me to accept and it takes some time to move on and look to next year. In 2003 the playoffs brought much excitement and anticipation until the very painful final public flogging, this year perhaps because the Cubs never really challenged the DBacks the end was almost guillotine quick...and certainly a bit less painful. On top of the Cubs playoff loss, Boston now has 2 Championships after busting the epic Bambino curse, the White Sox ended their long Series winning drought, throw in a freaking Red Bird title and it's enough to give a Cubs fan a recurring migraine. I'm guessing if I had a therapist they would say "it's time to move on" or "don't dwell on the past". Sooooo...I'm looking at the calendar and see it's only about 12 weeks until the Cubs arrive here again in Mesa for spring training and a new season. That's just over 80 days or a little over 2000 hours, or roughly 120,960 get the picture.

After one of the first practices last spring new skipper Lou Piniella said "I think some good things can happen in Chicago this season". Well good things did happen for the Cubs in 2007, not necessarily "great things" but certainly winning the Central was a "good thing" and a step in the right direction. I'm not sure if the Cubs have enough talent right now to reach the World Series in 2008, but they have already made a few trades and will definitely add more new faces before spring training...So we'll see what the roster looks like come March. One thing I have is a lot of confidence in Lou Piniella and his abilities to direct the team and continue improvement towards that World Series goal.

With a Central Division title under the belt expectations will be even higher as we enter the 100 year anniversary season of the last Cubs World Series Championship. Will the Cubs be great in 2008? Only time will tell but one thing you can be sure of is, from the day pitchers and catchers report we will be at Fitch and Hohokam every single day covering the goings on at Cubs spring training. Every year our goal is to make improvements to this website in order to give you the most current and inside information on your Cubs during each spring. We are expanding our exclusive online CubsAz video program this season, along with more original content including more Cubs photos and player interviews. This is your one stop ultimate Cubs Spring Training site.

I want to thank all of you for your continued support and wish everyone a fantastic and safe Thanksgiving holiday! 120,958 minutes...
